There is a wonderful disused quarry in Balahullish, Glencoe with lots of Silver Birches
which look lovely at this time of year. Last year the sun was shining on them and I didn't
have my tripod when my husband lured me in to see the quarry.
This year it was raining but I did have my tripod.
Sincere thanks for vs & cs for Flow & Fern and yes my husband planted the fern on the rock for me!

that is a fine contrast you got here. maybe a tad soft but I love the colours black and gold and the different textures.

Those leaves really 'zing' against the rocky wall, Kate, a lovely contrast.

Beautiful colours in the rocks and trees Kate. I have tried hard to find photographs in that quarry but never succeeded.

Beautiful autumn colours, Kate - the rock face is wonderful!
A close up abstract of the rocks would be so good to see!

Lovely contrast of colours here Kate with the leaves and the slate.
Amazing how the rocks are slanting sidewards into the ground and adds
to the mystery of how they were formed….WinkWinkWink… 10 days and counting…….

Lovely textures, colours and tones here Kate. The detail in the slate is great. The rain has helped in this instance as slate is always more enhanced when wet. Very well done. Smile

This looks very much like the road leading out of our town. We have several slate quarries, too, and it seems that birch have an affinity for that type of soil.
Beautiful golden colors against the grey.
