Zambia was good for Lions, not large prides but small groups. This individual was part of a hunting pair. They roared around our tent for 2 nights !! and were once on the boardwalk in front of us in the dark !!! A magnificent specimen.

A great experience seeing this big cat in his natural habitat, I would imagine, Ron, and for us to see them in such an environment too, albeit vicariously through your images.

Excellent shot Ron. Was this South Luangwa and if so where were you? I know this area well and am going back again next year. Look forward to seeing more.

Up close and personal.
I think I'll stick to b&bs for my holiday accommodation though...

Wonderful shot Ron, and what an experience having them wander around the tent for 2 nights, Mark.

SIMBA! that expression is sheer animal, I wonder if the tail was moving too?
Nice to see animals in the wild, rather than Zoos.

I hope you don't get up in the middle of the night too often Ron.

Wonderful wildlife image Ron. I'm left wondering what he was thinking as you took the shot?

Sounds like an amazing experience, Ron, although I'm not sure it would be an aid to sleeping. A superb portrait of the lion and well within the reach of your lens too.
