The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird-962. Isn't she magnificent? This is in the American hangar at Duxford and very difficult to get a decent shot of as there's so many people wandering around and clutter everywhere. But it's so special I had to do it and try to make something of it. It holds the speed and altitude record for a jet engined aircraft (or so I've read - that might have changed by now but I don't know).
V2's the original shot so you can see it in context.
I'm so pleased you've liked my aircraft pics this week. You always wonder how things are going to go when you try something new so I'm very heartened by your responses. Thank you.
Chris

Nice work for V1 but I like the context provided by V2.
Super work......I love the way you have made the clutter disappear, I had an oil painting of the SR-71 commissioned for my hublet and it now hangs proudly on our lounge wall. A magnificent aircraft.![]()

This would look marvellous on any wall..........love it.
My favourite so far. Lines, curves, light.

Utterly correct decision to go with V1, Chris. This is how Blackbird should be seen. Of course, in practice she would have been too fast to see ![]()
My understanding of military aircraft concerns the Ancient rather than the Modern, but I have a feeling that the speed/altitude records are still hers.

A fine looking piece of machinery, but your presentation in V1 really does it justice - an excellent bit of work, Chris ![]()

Thanks for your vote and comment on my 'Whitby Sunset' upload, Chris
In answer to your question, Goathland is pronounced just how it looks, with the accent on the first half of it's name - the 'Goath' bit rhymes with 'oath'! ![]()

V1 shows off the perfect lines of this gem of engineering
By reducing the clutter and making the shape stand out you have produced an outstanding result. Unfortunately too late for my award but it would deserve it.
