I have waited a long time for this. Right time, right lens, right light. A fleeting glimpse of sunlight, on an otherwise abysmal day, with wild winds, torrential rain and hailstones. I waited all day for a sign of this little bird, who is nesting in a box that I put up over a year ago. Of the pair, this is the female. I have seen them mating, gathering nest material. I have watched the male bringing in food..(mostly meal worms that I have paced in feeders) in the garden. I am trying not to disturb them, they have enough to contend with....magpies, cats, squirrels...the damned weather. I hope they do well.
