I like to take at least a picture a day and some days you just don't get anything you're all that happy with. My bird shots just aren't all that sharp. I find by the time it took to get a tripod the bird would be gone and then I don't have a great lens for taking bird shots. But I still like taking them anyway, especially when you catch them doing something funny and they often do. Having a terrier around chasing and barking doesn't help either. But hey, it's fun!

What a wonderful colour! Have read about these birds but reckon this is the 1st time I've actually seen one, and isn't he/she a real little performer?

V1, for character and attitude! I'd be inclined to crop off the top, down to the bottom of that branch on the right.

Don't put yourself down on your bird shots, This is not a bad shot at all and is 90% clear. Bird shooting is really a camera set up on a tripod and then a sitting and waiting game. Great try Martin

Nice shot of Blue Jay with detail My only critisim on both version is the white background colour whis very distracting and spoiling the impact of this lovely image. I know you had no control changing the background at the time so, its not your fault.

You almost need to have a camera/tripod permanently set up so you're ready all the time! But that's not really practicable so, like you, I grab bird shots hand held.... but I rarely get anything as good as this! Such a great looking bird, very different from the jays we see in the UK. Love the pose in V1.
