A manipulation of a 'Clematis Nelly Moser'.
I got bored with taking stock photographs so I decided to try some manipulations again.

Wow! Thanks Pete. I nearly fell of my chair when I saw the award.
Thanks for the comments everyone.
Stands out from the crowd. Lovely detail and composition. Congrats on the EC.
Cheers, Paul
Thanks Melanie. Mutual admiration then as I feel the same about yours ![]()
great shot with that detailed center and the petals/rays. Congrats both for the image and the EC
Excellent work. Whatever you've done to it works really well. Well done on the EC.
Steve!
Thanks everyone. For those interested these are the steps I went though to create this using a 6Mp image:
Processing details:
1) Duplicate background layer. Select Filter/Blur/Radial Blur. Set the amount to 100, the Blur Method to Zoom, Quality to Draft and centre the effect on approximate centre of the flower. Click OK
2) If the centre of the effect is where you want it then Click Edit/Undo and do step one again but this time set the quality to Best. Otherwise undo and do step one again but change centre of effect to where you want it.
Note: Running the filter at Best quality will take some time to process on a large file.
3) Run zoom blur again with Best quality setting.
4) Drag an elliptical selection around the centre of the flower and feather by 150px
5) Delete selection
6) Create new adjustment layer for Hue/Saturation above duplicated background layer and group with that layer. Adjust Hue/Saturation using colourise to get the colour you want.
7) Create new adjustment layer for Hue/Saturation above background layer and group with that layer. Decrease Saturation until colour is just showing.
8) Finally save image, resize and apply sharpening to background layer only then save for web.
Woo john i'm speachless thats a stunning bit of work .
Congrats on POTW .

Thanks for the comments everyone.
January was a good month for me. Got my first image published in a magazine (first time I've tried) and also got another contract with a picture library. Canon asked for details of the shot and have used it and a short write up on their imagine site. Then another EC and my second POTW and finally my car sailed through it's first MOT. I hope February is as good.
Thanks again for all the comments everyone. The image printed on canvas by PhotoArtistry (prize for POTW) has arrived and the quality of printing and finish is very impressive.
I have also been approached by a greetings card company interested in this shot and have allowed them to use it on a commission per card sold basis.
John
