Taken on Christmas Morning (in brilliant sunlight!) - one of the wild foxes that frequent our fields. Taken from our open bedroom window. I have a sequence showing him locating, pouncing on and devouring a rat, but too far away and not good enough to upload.
Settings: F/5.6 1/2500sec ISO800 AV@420mm handheld. Please view large if you have time.

Thank you so much for your C&Cs on my Robin upload - very much appreciated as always.

What a delightfully composed shot, the tree and grasses forming such a natural frame for the fox: and with the snowy b/g, the animal stands out so well. The lighting and colours could not be better, and the detail is excellent. A truly perfect shot IMHO, Sylvia.

This is a gorgeous image. What a beautiful specimen - it has a very angular face (real foxy instead of dog like!).

Quote: not good enough to upload

I'd love to see the series - could you perhaps upload them as 'variants'? Smile (please) Smile

Beautiful shot Sylvia. The lighting on the tree shows some marvellous texture and detail. Its also apparent that this is a wild animal from the cautious stance and attitude it strikes. different somehow from a captive beast.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments and votes, with a special THANK YOU toJNC (JeanNoelC) for the User Award - all very much appreciated.
I have uploaded a burst series of 6 images (basically record shots) showing the Fox pouncing on a rat. These have been cropped in synchronisation in order to preserve the movement when "mousing over" and it does actually seem to work. Hope you enjoy the sequence.

Superb light bringing out the detail and colour on the Fox, it must be good to have these beautiful animals on your doorstep, good to see the images of him on the hunt for food.

The lead shot is very nice and it's good to see the hunting sequence, too. #3, in particular, reminds me of a sequence of a fox hunting in the snow, in the BBC's documentary series on Yellowstone from a couple of years ago.
