Continuing with my sculptures theme.
I have just spent a frustrating afternoon trying to find some information about this charming little sculpture of a naked kneeling boy clutching two fish whose mouths form the fountain, found in Alhama De Murcia, Spain.
It is in the Garden of the Martyrs of Alhama de Murcia. This garden was formerly the original watercourse, and "la rambla de la Cruz" was built in its present form during the 1950’s. The columns give it a classical appearance and it is a popular site for locals to relax and take shade in the heat of the summer. The figure on the fountain is a reproduction of the original which disappeared mysteriously in the 1970’s and was made from old photos found in the municipal archive, and was inaugurated in 2009, restoring the gardens completely to their former splendour.
V1 is a closeup of the sculpture, V2 a slightly wider view, and V3 a wider view still, showing the columns and promenade.
Pamela.

Excellent detail in these super compositions Pamela,
Fred.
I can readily see why this would be so appreciated given a hot Spanish summer. The shadows in V3 suggest a lovely, cool place to linger and the sound of the falling water will add to the effect, of course. You captured the details and light so well. I especially like those falling drops of water in V3.
Ann
An excellent trio
Wishing you all the best for 2013
Quite an interesting statue and slightly sureal. v1 has the detail but I do like the composition of v3 with the framing by the columns; water droplets; and the textures and patterns caused by the ripples.

When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was the little Boy of Brussels............then I thought he can't have two surely............that's when I saw the fish............![]()

A tremendous trio of images Pamela, all are worthy winners. That cheeky cherub reminds me a bit of a young Graceland!
All the best to you in 2013, Ed
I particularly like the distortions in the water in v3 Pamela ![]()
