We never see these here ( quite rare ) so welcome to see in your garden Malcolm. We do have 4 Jays, 12 Collard Doves, 2 Magpie's and an assorted variety of other garden birds. Winter is here !!!! Oh and 1 Sparrowhawk!!!!

Have never seen this species, so delighted to see you have it visiting you, and what a fine shot it allowed you.
Ronnie.

They visit occasionally, with chaffinches, in the winter. Recently had yellowhammers, a red squirrel, & a sparrowhawk - not quite so welcome! No jays Ron, but they frequent the local woods.

How very beautiful. Superb shot. I've never seen one of these and if I did I'd likely think it was a robin, but I'll bear this lovely clear picture in mind in case a Brambling should ever visit.

Not aware of ever recognising this wee bird Malcolm, falling snow adds the cold touch here.
