Inspired by ChalliceW's Cape Weaver shots, I thought it was about time I posted one of mine.
This was taken during a visit to the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens on the outskirts of Johannesburg. We threw down some scraps of bread from our sandwiches to see what birds it might attract and were pleasantly surprised by the response. This male Cape Weaver is one of the more colourful ones (eclpised only by the Crested Barbet which I'll post later!). It doesn't show too well in this small version but there's a piece of bread disintegrating in his beak just as I took the shot.
