Frame 014.
Twenty minutes after yesterday's.

The sun had found a brief break in the cloud deck of the passing squall and started to ignite the whole bay.
Amazing how the light changed in such a short time. This has had pretty much the same processing as yesterday's and the preceding image.

I did try a few shots down by the abutment wall but the incessant spray and wind down there made them completely unusable, despite ferocious filter wiping.

Fortunately I didn't have to contend with passing curtains of rain as they remained seaward and passed me by, luckily.
Not so the waves, though...managed to get clobbered by a couple of freakishly enthusiastic little battering rams.

As always, thanks for dropping by. Smile
Off out shortly, so will catch up when possible.

Cheers

Bill

Think you deserve a medal for staying there so long Grin. Well worth it, though, and this is so different from the previous uploads. The colour gradient from bright orange to inky blue is excellent.

Powerful shot Bill. The 'explosion' of light is perfectly balanced by the wave bursting through the image.

Certainly stands out with that warm light and tones Bill, well worth the wetting and filter wiping

Fabulous light, with a great moody sky too Bill - composition works well too although the colour could possibly be a little too hot for my tastes [literally a percentage or two - very slight].

BUT [you knew it was coming, didn't you? Wink] ... as you know I'm a fan of trying capturing movement in shots, particularly with water and this feels a little too frozen for my own personal tastes matey. You haven't shown what shutter speed you've used, but for me it needs to be at the very least double what you have here just to add a little more movement into that breaking wave - I find the sharpness of it competing with the pier.

As I mention, personal choice and a fair few will probably disagree with me ... probably even you too, but I know you're always happy to have honest feedback at all times mate!!!

Incidentally, a big stopper on this one would have worked a treat by softening out all that water and cloud and making the pier pop.

Gets a vote for the light and conditions - but not shortlisted for the frozen water!!!

As I say, just my twopennethworth Smile

Paul

LOL!
Yep, I did know that was coming, Paul. Smile
Honest feedback is always welcome! Thanks mate Smile
I can accept that the colour may be too strong for you. It's a personal taste thing, I guess.
Interestingly, all the shots from this shoot had exactly the same colour treatment, which was minimal compared to some of my wilder offerings.

I completely agree that more water movement would have been desirable and I think that had I had more time I would have probably slapped a polariser on to slow things down a bit more, or even the six stop nd.
Unfortunately from a photographic point of view, Bee was freezing her nuts off in the car and getting very hungry!
As I mentioned on the first from this shoot, it was a completely unplanned visit and the spray really was horrendous - no sooner would I wipe the filter clean, then it would be covered again. Very difficult really, and thre was no way I could have even comtemplated trying the big stopper, especially as things were changing so fast. Would've resulted in a smudgy mess. It did cross my mind, though.
I'm not convinced that cloud movement would have been best for these shots as it was the sky that really leapt out at me when I got there and it's the sky that makes the images for me. Of course with more time I would have had the luxury of experimenting, but the conditions and circumstances didn't really permit that, so I had to make some swift decisions of the fly.
I'd be curious to see what you make of the last in the series as I think it addresses a great many of the points you've raised and is my personal favourite from the whole shoot. If you can arsed to have a look, of course Wink

TBH, I'm pretty pleased to have come away with so many shots at all given how wet it was!

Your twopennethworth is alwasy welcome. Smile

I hope your comment goes green - I've marked as such. It's great feedback and it's very valuable to have it.

Cheers - I'm off to see what else you've slagged off Wink
