A photo taken at the Brothers water, in a break from the rain. For a moment the light was gentle and I was drawn to the image of the small tree at the water side with the fields rising behind.

This also is an attempt to wean myself from wide angle photo's and an attempt to take longer focal length photo's. I know the ISO should be lower, but it was taken on a walking family holiday and it was grab shot in a way. The lens was at about 85mm.

Apparently the lake was named as such because two brother died after falling through the ice whilst skating.

Lovely shot, its one of my favorite walks in the lakes especially as there's a pub on route.

This is a cracking shot. Not sure what you mean about the iso, can't see much grain.

Not bad John, not sure if this is down to noise or just a little over sharpening but just looks a tad flat to my eye`s. Its not a problem and have found that this can easily be sorted in PS.

Good to see others leaving that wideangle at home or in the bag for the odd landscape and it just goes to show that an horizon or patch of sky is not always needed Smile

Thanks Paul, the image came out with a very narrow exposure, it was a bit misty after the rain and the far shore was a bit away, brought closer by the use of the longer lens. I have been playing with the curves and sharpening to pull more our out of the image.

Your point is good and I will play with the original image to see what I can get from it.

RE ISO I think the 300D starts to loose contrast as you up the ISO from 400 over, so its not the noise and also not being tripod mounted and hand held at about 1/60 does not help.

Thanks again for your thoughts.
