Today I'm presenting several images of the uncommon Brown hairstreak butterfly, a female, she spent quite a while entertaining me by trying various blackthorn twigs with a view to egg laying.

A gorgeous capture, I love the tantalizing glimpse of the upper wing! I'm sure I can see a smile on her 'face'! Smile

Quote: Mike, great photographs, love the lighting, did you use a flash?

Thanks Johnjo, yes I used flash, a Sigma close up flash unit (called a ring flash but in fact has two small tubes mounted either side of the lens)
Very simple to use with variable output settings

Thanks everyone Smile

Yes Lillian, I did use a tripod, although most of the times this butterfly landed, it was in bushes on a steep slope, which meant I was often only using two of the legs.
