Brue View

Hi.

Spent Saturday afternoon in Glastonbury, ambling round all the hippy shops as one does.
Had a vague hope of getting a few shots if we had time, which it turned out we did.
I've not shot here before so I'd spent a wee while studying the map trying to pick a spot, which I did.
The sky was looking promising with about a hour to go to sunset, so we set off to the south east of the town.
Damn and blast: the road I had picked out to take us to my preselected location turned out to be closed with a massive earthmover blocking it, so we had to find an alternative route eating up precious time.....I almost gave up at that point fearing that my hoped for light would be gone.

In the end I found a close-by and fairly similar spot, during which, of course the sun had disappeared behind a large bank of cloud hovering above the horizon with just a teency weency gap for it to peep through in a very fast approaching moment.
I had almost no time to scout this new location driven as I was in hurrying to outrun the sun's relentless descent and capture the hoped for light.
By the time I got here, the sun had already shown its face, so I had barely a minute to set up the rig before it disappeared for the night.
This was the first shot I made and had the light I was hoping for.....

It wasn't until I almost finished shooting (with frrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeezing cold hands) that I realized I had forgotten to reset my aperture to f/11. Damn and blast again.
As it turned out I'd lost a tad of DoF in the distance.
Fortunately I'm not intending to print this one, so a little judicious sharpening solved the problem which isn't really an issue at this tiddly size.
And I was pretty pleased with being able to find and predict the location and conditions, fleeting though they were.

Not too bad for my first intended effort with this icon......must explore some more when I'm not racing Apollo in his chariot!
