A nice little bully, showing proudly his broad breast and noble profile! Well caught him.

Still having trouble recognizing the breast colours Geoff. Never ever seen these orange/ginger ones on a Bullfinch's.
Perhaps try a different white balance in Raw - its so unnatural but I don't suppose a lot of people know that as they are not very common.
I see you have commented on one elsewhere -that colour was spot on.
Superb detail in this though.
Brian.

Hi Brian, I had a feeling you might mention this again, although you may disagree, this is exactly what the bullfinches that visit here look like, not purely red or orange but a mixture of both and as you know each birds colour is unique to itself. I had already tried your suggestion with the RAW files by changing the white balance and the blacks, grey's and whites didn't look right. Hopefully I will get some more soon that fit the text book criteria
...............................I try
thanks for the comment,
Geoff.
PS: This is not too far removed from this one but you didn't mention the un natural colour ?
Hi Geoff- if as you say that is the original colour no point in trying to change it. Your Bullfinch visitors must be 'unique' indeed and I must have been very unfortunate to have never seen one like it in all my RSPB/BTO birdwatching years. It's nothing to do with text book images - it's about what I have seen.
Perhaps it's my binoculars that is the problem.![]()
Re. No 3 - I did say what I liked about it !!!!!!!!!! - can't critique too much, people get 'precious' and leave the site.![]()
Regards
Brian.
