Outdoor photography was a definite no-no for me yesterday, as it poured with rain all day, so I was lucky to spot a very forlorn bumble bee in my lounge, looking as though it were going to croak at any minute. I lifted it very carefully onto a sheet of paper, and gave it a good helping of honey. After only a few seconds the little bumble extended his proboscis and his little tongue licked away furiously at the honey. Meanwhile I was able to capture his feeding on camera. Once he had finished his meal he immediately rose into the air, did a quick round of the lounge and disappeared out of the verandah door, hopefully to find shelter from the rain.
V’s 1-3 show the blob of honey in front of him, and V.4 is an image if him before he took his medicine!

A lovely and interesting series Carol. It is amazing how quickly they recover after a drop of the good stuff.
Andy
Four excellent shots and a first lass rescue. I always carry a small (hotel size) pot of honey and a stirring stick in my jacket pocket to feed torpid bees caught by a wet or cold snap here. It gives them enough energy to get back to the hive.
He looks like I feel like at the moment.
An excellent set.
Fine rescue and supper provided 4 fine capyured excellent detail

Oh dear I'm feeling bad -most of us when seeing bees or wasps in our homes would be swiping it with a towel
to get it outside and here's you and Lynne feeding them honey.
I do know there is a decline in the number of bees and maybe we should be learning about saving them.
Great macros Carol - I guess we can learn from you.

Astonishing detail and clarity in these close ups Carol, I bet you got a real buzz when the bee flew off back into the wild
You are a heroine, the bees knees so to speak.
Great text and images. I expect you would have given it the kiss of life if necessary.
V3 for me Carol, he thinks he is John Travolta.
Regards
Trev.
I would think he thinks you are the bees knees, Carol ![]()

Huh Carol there was me glorying in bright blue sky & sunshine . You would be amazed at the change ! High winds and pouring rain & sleet.
Your photos are delightful . Glad you had some Honey to give him strength . How Bees could fly in this dissasterous weather I don't know xxx
It looks already much better in v2 and even more in v4!
well done both with the rescue and the photos
