The Burrowing Owl ( athene cunicularia )
A super little owl not normally resident in this country with his normal habitat the dry open plains of North and South America. This one is, of course, a captive bird and is resident of the place I often frequent- the Hawk Conservacy at Weyhill. In his display he really does act like a wild bird and makes use of the burrow he is standing in front of.
Hope you will like him.
Many thanks for the generous c/c's on the Nuthatch and more thanks to Mike (Mike Smith) for the UA. I am most grateful.
Ron

I don't care if it's wild or captive Ron, this is an excellent composition, a beautiful eye and super feather detail together with the burrow being included in the shot, had I not already given my UA away already today I would have given it, excellent in all respects and one of your best shots IMHO, looks like a winner.....hope I'm right ![]()
Regards,
Geoff.

Superbly detailed capture and composition, Ron. Wonderful pose, eye contact and plumage patterning/textures. Congratulations on a very well deserved HC and awards - you would have had mine too but it wasn't available to give. However, it is there in spirit ![]()
