This is my partners snake - Atheris chlorechis, known more commonly as either Western bush viper or West African leaf viper. It is a venomous viper and I took this through glass as it is too dangerous to photograph this close without glass.

PLEASE VIEW LARGE - its much better

Hope everyone enjoys the new year festivities.

Super detail. Not a great fan of snakes, but I like the colours and shape of this.

nature -isn't it amazing - this proves it -what a super shot showing hoe intricate the scales are and how the eye blends into the overall picture, wonderful even through the glass, I love to watch snakes at the garden centre's especially when feeding - then you get to see what killing machines they really are.

Looks like the Boomslang that we have here we had a beauty in the garden just 2 weeks ago luckily it went back into the bush but they are very toxic so they are not encouraged to stay !
Lovely close up

Good grief, I looked at it large and it frightened me to death, its so real. The only way that I could photograph a snake this tight in the frame is if I had a 1000mm or longer lens. Well captured. Wink

Got to say Angi that I found your frog shots so very much more appealing-- but then again this is just a brilliant closeup of the snake. Such razor sharp detail.
