I have always shied away from macro photography as I can't really achieve the detail I want out of my kit lens. However I have had a play with these and was quite pleased with the outcome. Taken last year as my lovely Dandelion collection was starting to come into bloom!Tongue

Hoverflies have one pair of wings, Ryan, bees have two. Easiest to tell them apart when they fly though. Excellent macros... close up filters??

Well a Hover Fly it is then!Grin I didn't use any filters. I just used the 'smart sharpen' filter on ps for the first time as opposed to 'unsharp mask' plus a play with the levels and saturation.

Three excellent images. I see you used Aperture Priority - how does the macro mode perform on your Canon EOS 550?
I do have a macro lens but find macro mode quite disappointing if I'm grabbing a macro image with my kit lens.
I think V1 is the best composition.
