Not sure exactly which species of hover/dronefly this one is other than to say it was an extremely small one as you might be able to tell from the size of the buttercup it was feeding on......Look carefully and you can see the reflection of my ugly mush on it's thorax ![]()
Well what a bleedin' awful night last night turned out to be weather wise. I had do do the school run for my Grandchildren this morning as a one off and what normally takes 45 minutes turned into 3 hours! Just about every main road in North Somerset was closed due to flooding or some prat getting themselves stuck in it!........Honest to God some of these folk are clueless when it comes to driving in floods!
It's no wonder I didn't see much on the garden camera's over night, I think the hedgehogs thought better of it and decided to stay hunkered down in the warmth of the nest boxes, they don't seem to have moved all night and I can't say as I blame them either.
Here's hoping everyone has had a better start to the day than I've had.......Ade

A rather sociable foreword Ade, certainly one which brings the true reality of everyday life home. "As for the image, well my dear Ade, I consider this to be one of your finest?". A beautifully composed piece filled with wonderful photographic ingredients and more so. A pleasure to view and admire as always.
Regards Nathan
I'm a little stressed I think Nathan, I'll take a chill pill and have a lay down......The world's full of clueless numpties that make you wonder how on earth they ever passed a driving test! Fortunately, I don't let them get to me and stay very calm while I'm in the car, more often than not just laughing at them......It's the ex HGV driver coming out in me you know ![]()
Ade
Ade I know you chill them sometimes but didn't know you polish them, too!!!
fantastic shot.
I've heard of driving miss daisy, but not driving miss buttercup! Far to many cars on the road to make driving enjoyable anymore.
Dave
A fine capture, Ade, rich in colour and detail. You want to try driving on our roads in the rain, you can't see the potholes, of which there are numerous (more potholes than road
), forever seeing accidents during the wet months. Carol
I can see you moving from moths onto flowers Ade, I think you are laying the foundations for this botanical experiment to be your new niche in the world of macro photography. After a miserable wet day this image will really help to build me up, buttercup must be one of the most cheerful spring flowers to brighten up the dullest, darkest day. Sorry to hear about your trials and tribulations on the roads of North Somerset this morning, I won't bother to mention the awful weather, potholes and clueless clowns on Gloucestershires roads as we'd be here all night!![]()
What an unusual way to get a self-portrait!! ![]()
An excellent macro shot Ade.
The weather here has been terrible all day - luckily it was my day off as where I work always gets flooded, the last time a 45 minute journey home took me 5 hours!
Hope the hedgehogs are OK! Am tuning in now!
Carol
My day was full of jangling nerves but we won't go there now, love the picture, could it be a sun fly I took a picture of one recently not posted it yet - yours shows well against the beautiful yellow of that flower
That is a top rant in your narrative fella, I've really enjoyed reading it, I bet the air turned blue with your colourful language this morning, I hope you posted this in the grumpy group in the forums today! Just wait in another few months time the wallies on the West Country's roads will be attempting to negotiate snow, ice and fog that should be fun! No doubt you will be on top form again with your insightful comments! It's a pity I can't post links as i'd post a youtube one of Catatoinia's "Road Rage" especially for you tonight!![]()
