"Ca' Canny" translates roughly as "proceed with due care and attention".
Three cygnets approaching open water from the ice.
My thanks to all for the kind comments regarding Finn.
This is a great photo Ronnie !! I just love the way the cygnets inspect the icy water they are entering !! Very well captured
Good details and timing with the approach to the water Ronnie
They seem to be stepping out with great care. - gary
Great moment captured and thanks for the translation Ronnie. I have learned a new phrase. paul
Super composition Ronnie, nice shot,
Super reflections, Ronnie, and thank you for the title translation Carol
Cold harsh weather setting in, survival imperative!!!!
Wonderfully tactile, particularly the water surface.
Splendid detail Ronnie.
The cold temperature transmits itself to the viewer.
(I'm a Northumbrian, so I understood your "Ca' Canny") (for us it's Gan Canny Hinny)
Brilliant shot Ronnie, great composition, rather them than me tho
Nice detail and story Ronnie - the gull seems to be wondering what the fuss is about.
ca canny indeed Ronnie and the same outside this morning good frost and looking over the hills Ben Lomond is well white you have cauthe the expression of ca canny here very well indeed good one
It looks really cold, I certainly wouldn't put my bare feet in the cold water, but the birds don't feel the cold............
Great title and the water does look very icy. They do tread carefully as they enter the water and keep it open by their swimming in circles.
Words simply fail me....
An excellent capture here Ronnie, love the detail splendid shot, the Geese certainly look cautious no doubt about that, very well composed and presented regards Leon.
Well captured. Lovely image.
Excellent clarity on the swans and ripples Ronnie.
what a happy collection you have here
Not to be trifled with Ronnie, they are the best guard "dogs" around
Very cautious looking steps being taken there. Beautiful detail Ronnie.
Yea. That ice does look a bit tricky. Well taken Ronnie....Derek
Like the look on the seagulls face, waiting for the big guys to break some more ice. A lovely image Ronnie........Sandy
Nice shot, Ronnie, they seem to have taken your advice.
Brrrr, I bet they've got cold feet! A super capture, Ronnie, hope they took your advice!
Did the seagull burst into a loud laugh when they went in Ronnie
Excellent capture, great timing!
Currently the 'Featured e2 Photo' at the moment, Ronnie!
Oh, I love seeing the youngsters - so much more interesting to look at than the adults! I love the curve in this image!
Yes I can hear the ice cracking from here easy does it tiger O it's not a tiger but you know where I was going, The leading cygnet could be looking in the reflection and saying one day I will be white BUT NOT YET, good capture Ronnie well spotted.
Good observational image transmitting that very cold feeling.
We're all watching our steps these days.
well done ROnnie
We had an icy one here this morning Ronnie, oh how I hate the winter months brrrrrr.....Good image BTW.
Looks as icy as here Ronnie,
great shot, with the gull looking on
A smashing image Ronnie, with a magical kind of Light.
Love this image. Great details, reflections and a special moment captured with perfect timing. It's -2C here this evening and falling. Oh how I hate the winter!
It would be the first time they experienced it no doubt
Can almost hear them thinking "What the ........ happening here? I love the expression on their faces.
What I like about this is the angle of shooting and the composition, Ronnie, making it far more than a shot of the cygnets venturing onto the ice. Love the little grouping, inclusion of the gull, and of course those reflections. Even though it's a still shot, you have managed to convey their tentative steps so well.
This photo illustrates why you are such a photographic super star!! Ann.
Great detailed image
Rather them than me.
Its a beauty Ronnie - an unusual pov which adds to the sense of the birds uncertainty about moving forward. They have lovely feet! A
So lovely Ronnie, these gygnets are growing up fast though,
Beauty in the making, for your capture and the swans………
They look bemused and are probably experiencing it for the first time. These ugly duckings will soon become beautiful and graceful swans
fine reflections and I can hear them thinking.. are we really supposed to like this cold stuff
