Last of a short series. I uploaded this in colour a little while ago, I wonder how b&w will fare?
I took Anne (atworner)'s advice on a small adjustment.
The Jim Morrison posters are very easily explained – the café is immediately opposite the main entrance to Père Lachaise cemetery where Morrison's grave is a major tourist attraction.
Thanks for some wonderful comments while I have been away, I enjoyed reading them. Life is not quite back to normal yet, but it's heading that way.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

There is a lot here to look at, but the concentration of the man with the glasses is an excellent focus
Helen
Excellent candid portrait Moira, typically French from what I remember from my last visit to France, which is some time ago ![]()
Hugh
Welcome back, Moira, hope you had a good time!
Think this works equally good - if not better - in mono ![]()

Great shot, looks great in mono, lots of interest.
Sylvia
Superb in mono Moira - this works so well. Atmosphere is preserved, and now the image feels timeless for me.
Hope you had a wonderful time away.
Anne
You can smell the coffee and something nice cooking a whiff of garlic maybe, fresh bread and the stomach acknowledges with a little rumble of pleasure, mono or colour the nose wins the day. Welcome back I hope you had a wonderful short trip to France and the weather was kind to you.

This works well in BW, Moira, especially the light sparkling off the glasses and taps in the background. Although - and this may be the angle of my screen - the whole scene could stand to be a wee bit brighter, I feel.
Hope you had a good trip and that you had some nice saucisson...ahhh...saucisson sec...mmm...

I'm home on a flying visit - thanks to everyone who has called in here today, I'll get some time on the site later.
Al and Andrew: I worked a bit to brighten the highlights on the man's sleeve, the balance works for me. But I have long had a suspicion that my monitor is calibrated a bit lighter than some people's. The scale at the bottom of the site's pages works for me though... I'm uploading b&w again tomorrow, I'll be interested in any further comments.
Moira
Captures the moment even better in mono Moira, and gives it a more intense feel all round.
Welcome back by the way ![]()

Love the mono, really has so much to look at, would be great on a cafe wall. Ann
Another excellent “Café Culture” Moira.
The mono looks gorgeous on my screen (none calibrated but see all 16 shades)
David
An interesting image depicting cafe culture Moira, there is so much going on in this one and I like the interaction between the various characters in the scene
