Humblest apologies for my continued absence these days; I really am struggling to find time to contribute meaningfully and the slow internet causes me no end of problems when trying to view the galleries.

This is an image of Cairn Holy II; the second of the chambered cairns near Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfries and Galloway. This one is also surrounded by walls and has a farm shed close by but it sits on a little pinnacle and can be photographed in daylight with care. However, I thought it would suit the night-time treatment too, so it was photographed the same night as my last image. The cairn was lit by a small LED head torch, that has a very similar colour temperature to daylight, so I had little colour correction to do here and the lighting is less harsh than in the other photograph of Cairn Holy I.

Thanks for looking and a huge thanks to those who voted and clicked on my previous image. A special thanks go to Dougie (Scottishlandscapes) for the UA.

A quite remarkable image which sounds easy to capture from your description but I bet involved a lot of skill and patience on your part, Fraser: very well done.
Ronnie.

Great work Fraser, cold as can be on a hill in the weather we've had of late. I'm just back from Torridon and caught a glimpse of the stars and the Plough once, early morning.

Dougie
