Close to sunset and the clouds looked interesting so I popped out with the camera. Driving up into the hills I saw that Laggandhu was still catching the sun in the foreground so went for a viewpoint I've used before. This was taken a bit over a week ago and no chance of repeating it presently... It's raining now and forecast to do so for the coming week, sigh!

From the thumb I thought this was Tuscany, but I see it's Scotland, with sunshine. Rolling hills before you come to the mountains of Scotland.

Lovely low warm light, and great clouds, Al. v1 has the better balance by far. The shape of the cloud demands the horizontal format. I might even have trimmed a bit off the sky down to the layer of high cloud as well.

Thanks Dougie and Dave. ![]()
Dave, I know what you mean about trimming. I couldn't get down to the clouds in a 6x4 format without losing too much of the mountain range. A panoramic crop looked better but I've been trying to stick to conventional crops as an exercise in in-camera composition. Below the frame it got very cluttered. I'll keep working at it! ![]()
An awesome landscape captured Almiles. I love V1. Nice comp. Deep
The light is beautiful Alan. Both versions are excellent. Maybe a 3rd variant in the form of a square crop removing the cloudless area at the top of V2 as well ?
