Ok say it in a broad Scots accent if you like, it may seem better.

Whilst I personally like content of this image I am not happy with the tones and all the reds so any advice tips and critique would be more than helpful, as it always is mind you

Thanks

Dianna

What would it look like in B&W or with selective colour?

I can't advise on tones, but can say it was the strong tones in it that attracted it to me. I think this image would do well in mono also, because the composition and subject are so appealing.
Anne

The second version just uploaded after I submitted this. I still prefer the version with the strong reds.

Try a straight B&W conversion or perhaps sepia.

Ian

PS or put it up for modification and see if anyone can help

has to be the colour, it's just the carpet that fights for attention. like the strong colour, lines and opposing expressions, well captured

ahh yes Nic, it makes reds in the clothes more significant, they were so diluted, or maybe I mean lost, with the strong carpet colour too, great thanks a lot (what did you do?)

super capture! agree with Nick color is very strong. maybe some hue/sat adjustments to a specific color range and then masking to finish off the edit and you could tone down areas that you think are causing issues.

Like no. 3. Have also uploaded a mod.

basically I changed the hue of the reds, de-noised, created a second layer and changed in to mono, roughly erased the areas to be in colour, then went around any spills with a desaturation sponge, flattened, gave a yellow boost, created a dark vigenette like look to focus more, and finally increased the contrast.
