Another partly cloud and mist covered image of Canisp taken earlier in January. I like the spotlit area on the lower slope of the hill, but am not sure about the dark foreground. I've tried to lighten it with the "fill light" slider on Lightroom 3, but it has just created a bit of noise. It was more of a silhouette when I downloaded it. Can I have feedback on composition and any other points you feel, please? Would it be better, perhaps, to crop the lower dark area out altogether and make a letterbox shaped image? Thanks in advance. Ann

You are quite right about the mass of foreground,I feel it would be better with a very narrow foreground going to nothing on the right hand side, I would do a mod but for the moment I'm not sure that it is working anyway in my case I can't see mods for the moment!! So make it a real panoramic image or letter box as you call it. Well done a lovely capture.

For me the composition is fine, the bank of dark in the fg strengthens the height of the mountain sitting in the bright light Ann. What you got at the time was pretty good in my view of it.
Keep up the good work, you've started off really well, keep up the momentum with your work.

I'll go along with that!
I've uploaded a mod in which I've made an adjustment in levels to return the foreground to its silhouette form and cropped it as Grampy has suggested.
The levels tweak has also adjusted the sky, not necessarily for the better but its an option.
Hope it's OK.
Bren.
