Today is for the flower people!
The spring flowers of the Western Cape are legendary. I will put on a few over the next couple of uploads. Most of the shots were taken on Paarl mountain. Unfortunately I suffer from a terrible ignorance of their names and my book on Cape flowers has not yet been found in the chaos of boxes in storage. I will have to order another.
V1 is a bulb - rather gladiolus like but only about 12 inches high with these large showy flowers growing in and among the other fynbos vegetation not as obvious as it looks
V2 is a memeber of the Cape ground orchids - a Disa.
Many thanks for the support for the karoo uploads.
Hope you enjoy them. A

If I were choosing a flower to photograph, I could not have chosen better than this - the shape is interesting and you have good detail with the colour just right for cheering us all on this dull day
