Going through my archives, I came across this image from two years ago. We had had a BBQ on a hot day and were soon surrounded by three hornets, (after we were finished eating) they soon took to "biting" off the meat sinew from the left-overs. I was quite surprised (& unprepared) by this and tried to take some pics of them. Hopefully you are able to see in this image, the meat sinew that one of the hornets "sawed off" and eventually carried away.
Maybe it was the sweet marinade that attracted them
