The Olympic flame arrived on stage in Centre Square in Middlesbrough at the end of its day's travels on Sunday. It then had to be captured for safe keeping overnight in a Davy Miners' Lamp. This sequence shows the efforts of the Metropolitan Police's dedicated staff to catch the flame.

Please step through the sequence and enjoy the expressions!

Mike

Love the clean simplicity of V1, plus excellent reportage in the rest of the set.

A fascinating sequence of images, Mike, and very well captured, both by you and the Metropolitan Police Smile Carol

Fantastic sequence, and shot 1 is great. Not a big Olympic fan, and this caught my imagination!

Found this most interesting as never thought how flame is kept alive
but safe between desinations.
Very well documented in photos.

V1 is an amazing and dramatic image. One of the best I've ever seen of the fabled Olympic torch. I didn't realize that it had to be kept in a different vessel overnight. This is first class by any standard, but v1 should be enlarged and framed.
