This is from our close encounter with a herd of cows and one very protective bull in the hills above Settle in the Dales.
last shot of the day when the sun had dropped behind the hills but the last rays caught the edges of the limestone.
Many thanks for the comments and votes on my attempt at portrait/people photography and for taking a look at this one.

The light is just so beautiful and captured at that precise moment..Jo
Settle is such a lovely place for walking ...
We were attacked by a herd of cows near there... NO bull
But they had calves and we had a dog on the lead ... apparently we should have let her off
But my big brave man shooed them away ... but must admit never heard of that before and it was really scarey ...
Great shot Gilly - that bit of light makes all the difference.
Actually my understanding is its normally safer if the bull is with cows as he has other things on his mind. I also thought it was illegal to put a bull (over 10 months old) in a field crossed by a public footpath - but it wasn't clear if you were on a public footpath. I too have met a bull on a walk and it is an uncomfortable feeling!!
Geoff
It was a definite path with cattle grids and it was definitely a bull .... however as he looked very angry we didn't hang around too long to get into 'discussion' with him
He could have been a big 10 month old though ...??
Many thanks ![]()
