Shame I didn't use a filter here to darken the morning sky but I still like the light on the cattle and their rim lighting. Taken near Stoer Lighthouse at Easter looking towards Canisp - the 'mist' is in fact smoke from the crofters burning the heather. Thanks for looking and for any comments and/or criticisms.
Many thanks to marktc for his UA for Resting.

Just had another fiddle with it - hopefully v2 is a bit better?

Beautiful light. The cows look to be enjoying the morning sunrise. The mountain is lovely rising out of the b/g......Sandy

I'm rather glad you didn't use a filter. The brightness doesn't overwhelm the detail of the distant hill, and I think it helps to add valuable depth to the scene.

Great rim-lighting on the cattle, creating real impact in the FG. V2 draws the hill in closer for added drama although next to V1 it seems less natural. I think while the mod has more contrast, it appears to have a halo on the mountain so I prefer the original!

The side and rim lighting are such prominent features in this Highland landscape, Ann: I feel I prefer V 1 without the slight darkening of the sky.
The smoke from the burning of the heather adds so much to the atmospheric impact.
Ronnie.

The lack of a filter has not harmed, Ann. The smoke just above the fg continues in a very natural way upwards in the image to cover the distant mountain in a veil, as it was when you saw it.

I'd be inclined to stay with V1, but add just a bit more sharpening in LR which will also lift the contrast and give more detail in the steamin cattle.

You get what you grab in situations like this, you can fiddle and fiddle, but only you know what it looked like on the day Ann.
