Don't think the lack of detail is due to black and white, just not focused. Also really unpleasant to capture any form of insect by it's wings, so in that case, no, the placement is not good.

Not too happy about this. You shouldn't really do that to the Damsel fly you know. Other than that, needs more depth of field and needs colour.
