Having started with feet yesterday, I thought I would share some photos of feet taken yesterday at Richard's graduation in Coventry Cathedral.
v1 is from Epstein's statue of St. Michael and the Devil.
v2 is of the devil under St Michael's foot
v3 don't come too close to this foot
v4 Richard looking down at his feet

A wonderful day for Richard and one that we will never forget

Thanks for looking

Helen

An excellent selection of details, thoughtfully observed. The Epstein I know; the academic robes too; the mind boggles at V3!

Recognised V1 immediately, it's a wonderful work that I used to visit quite regularly. I remember that there was some controversy over Basil Spence's choice of Epstein for the commission because he was Jewish. Spence's response was 'So was Jesus...'
I have to admit though that V3 is the picture that I would have been unable to resist.
V4 - I hope Richard wasn't wearing... No, of course he wasn't... Wink

All except v4 are thorough wicked! I cannot imagine wearing those boots with that dress to any occasion.....I wonder what she had planned for the afterparty!!!!!
Congratulations to Richard, a fine honor.

I went through the images before reading your description and the thread worked excellently from the starting point of the feet, through the grotesque to the final image, which did lead me to think you intended the viewer to believe he was wearing those shoes!! Smile

I like your footsie theme, but do particularly like the bits of detail from the statue. V2 is amusing, almost as if Michael's foot has a bad odour which has knocked the Devil to the groundTongue.

A very varied set of images with a common thread.
V1 and V2 excellent images of a work I do not know.
V3 is well observed and should come with a warning!
V4 is awonderful record of an important day in all your lives.
May Richard prosper in live.
