Really like this with the interesting shadow. Not sure about the white and black chairs though. John
Nice shadow eric, well spotted!
Great perspective, well seen Click,
Like the angle, shadows work really well, click
Interesting. Reminds me of wimbledon. I cant decide whether the different types of chair add or detract from the image.
Nicely conceived and well shot. Great angle.
Great angle Eric and nice shadows.
Well done again, with the suun perfectly placed and the interesting shadow of the chair on the lawn.
a Throne at your work, Eric. Well done.
Thanks for your comments John, Mike, John, Gwyn, Dave, Mike, Mark, Louise and Jan. Good to hear from you all.
John and Dave, yes, I'm a little in two minds myself. The idea of a contrast between the modern simplicity of the newer chairs and the ornate style of the older appealled to me, yet at the same time there's a sneaking suspiction of confusion and clutter. I'd hoped that the shadow in it's clear-cut foreground simplicity would resolve the background, emerging as a sort of simple order from the chaos, so to speak. I took several shots of this as it appealled to me so much, and I chose this low angle one as the best viewpoint.
I did do another version in black and white with a close crop, which concentrates the image on the main chair. But then I found I was in two minds about that one too! The removal of the "distractions" seemed to take away too much! I may upload it to see what other people think.
good work Eric, like the shadow of the chair, nicely composed shot.
Nice shot again Eric but as others have said not sure about the other chairs, look forward to b/w shot. Regards Steve.
Great angle, great shadow and I love the colour of the sky, grass and chair.
The shadowmaster at his best, very nice shot Eric.
Lovely shadows and has the appearance of a magazine shot. Very nice Eric.
Old versus New,and it works, the strong shadow from the old ornate chair, dominates the overall image, and i like it.
Super angle, shadows and contrasts Eric, wonderful shot, very well done.
Many thanks Ian, Steve, Rod, Terry, Kath, Andy and Mary. Great to have your comments. I'm glad so many of you like it just as it is, but I'll still put up the closer crop bw as well, just to test the water.
Now I like this, Eric. You and I both seem to have a thing about shadows! I don't find the other chairs in the least distracting.
Very good to hear that, Jim. I ended up loading this one in preference to the closer crop bw version I tried. See what you think when I upload that version tomorrow.
Everybodys gone to lunch. Great shadow.
Very nice idea. Great colors and composition!
Thanks Karl and Pablo.
A great chair and a low angle give a wonderful shadow and makes everything else pale into insignificance. A very elegant image , Homes and Gardens )
Thanks Mavis, good to have your opinion.
Very elegant - click.
Much prefer this version Eric, personally I rather like the contrast between the old & new chairs, but it's the colours that really make this shot to me.
Thanks Chris and Ben, it is my preference too, although I've had a suggested crop which I will be looking at and which may appeal more.
was looking at the BW and then at this and i think that this is no doubt a really better shot to me. The color makes up the photo too...and i didn't find the other chairs distracting.. =) click!
Many thanks Sze, glad you like it.
It's an interesting subject, but the overall image doesn't do much for me I'm afraid. I think the large green foreground and the background distractions are too much to let me enjoy it.
I really like it...much prefer it to the black and white.
Did you get to the river festival, Eric? I've been looking forward to some shots from you
A nice summery feel to it.
The shadow play works well in this image Eric, from the fine detail of the main subject to the almost 'lost' shadows of the support cast. A thoughtful & well presented piece.
Thanks Tony, Patricia, Al and Mike.
Yes Patricia, been to the festival and got one or two to put up. Met up with David Toyne there for a shoot.
I'm about to upload a third version of this picture!
Looking forward to them Eric
Well composed shot eric, The colours are lovely.
The blue sky and the green of the grass work a treat.
Thanks Alan. The green is some sort of carpet, this is a stage, set up for the crowning of the Rose Queen at Highchurch village, Southport.
eric--you will find a photo in a dark room--this is great
Thanks Gaz, good to hear from you.
Missed these Eric.
Ian (clicked now)
Thanks Ian, good to hear from you.
I headed for this thumbnail first Eric, so I guess it is my favourite version! I like the patterns cutting across the blue and green; it does seem sort-of chaotic, but perhaps this adds to the appeal- the grand old chair rising above the rest... good shot.
Thanks Steven, yes, that's the way I saw it myself. I still like this version, perhaps because this is what I saw and took. Even tho the shadow is the main attraction, I usually like to show what is causing the shadow. Glad you like it too.
Thanks for tidying things up Keith.
