I was lucky enough to go on a business trip to South Africa last week. I had never been before. I decided to go to a game reserve at the weekend. It was a wonderful experience if a little dramatic: we followed this male elephant along a track in the vehicle at about 70 meters and all of a sudden it turned and charged us. It stopped about 4 feet from the vehicle and stomped around a bit. Our ranger guide faced it down with some guttural shouting and it eventually wandered off. He said it was "full of nonsense".
