I've been to Hastings today and found this window and reflection in the new Jerwood Gallery. I really like it, but imagine it might not be to everybody's taste. v2 is a creation from my new Topaz toy - not sure about it, but I like the textures, so I decided to air it. Btw, I had to spend some time cloning out the seagull poo from these lovely tiles - and I think I've left one small streak in - just so that it's authentic! Smile
A big thank you to everybody for your comments on Staring yesterday - they were very interesting and very helpful and thanks for your time - much appreciated - and a big thank you to John (lifesnapper) and Lesley (cassiecat) for your UAs!
Hope you're having a good weekend.
Ann

I think the mistake if it is indeed a mistake, is that you show the original and the software versions together. I really liked V1 then I noticed V2 and I really like that too. So for me show one or tother and make an old person happy slowly.

What a grump about nothing, V1 there you are .

I'll stick with V1. The best reflection shots are surreal, they create their own alternative reality. V1 does that, I don't think it needs further complications.

Hi Ann, the weather turned out warm and sunny here, hope you had some of the same. The composition on this is superb whichever version you go for. I prefer v1. The focus of the image is the window and reflection, and the blue frame highlights this. The same blue hue comes through on several of the tiles which pulls the image together, and the brighter yellow provides the balance. Excellent image.

Cracking shot !!!....love the graphic quality, & amazing colours in the tiles of V1.....I do like the extra 'bite' in V2, but it's lost
those colours that really 'lift' V1...........top notch stuff !!

Apologies for not responding to your Cuba pics !....But street photography simply has no appeal for me, at least not when it
includes people !!!.Smile

V1 for me, too, Ann. While I love the composition, the delicate tones and the juxtaposition in both, it's the tiny shimmery gold patches that stick in the memory.

The colors in v1 are so very attractive--- I love the quirky composition--seems to work perfectly.

It I had not see v1, I would like v2 much more-- but I do like it as a variation!

V1, certainly. I do have a thing about chimneys, and I think both these do it well, but V1 by a considerable amount. One of my abiding memories of Hastings is seagull deposits. Sounds like a bank account said like that.

Yes, the tones in v1 definitely puts it on top.
If I hadn't see v1, I would also have liked v2 though.

I think that a global use of filters and effects is always a compromise - you gain in one area and lose in another. I thought that about your last upload when comparing the versions. My temptation here would be to combine the two - probably keeping the window pretty much like v1 and then bleeding the contrast from v2 into the wood surround. Steve

A great idea Steve for somebody with good skills - but I'm not sure whether I'm up to that!! Smile

I really like V1, Ann. It has a kind of Mediterranean surrealism about it, and I would be more than happy to have it hanging in my home.
V2 reminds me of a drawing done by a pavement artist using coloured chalks, and is deserving of its own upload, I feel.

A difficult choice for me Ann because I really like the colours in V1 but I also like the textures that your processing has brought out in V2. Just to say that I think the comp' is fab & I'd love to have this in my PF Smile
