This is what I see when I arrive at work in the morning. There was a campus-wide competition among design students on the University campus. The winning design is now being implemented by facilities management.

As you can see, this involves stripping everything out -- down to the bare essentials. Work progresses nights and weekends and so we arrive to surprises like this in the morning.

I've seen the winning drawings and the finished product should make for a nice work environment. There will be a grand opening when the new semester starts in September. I'll keep you posted.

This was a chance for me to play with my 50mm lens and the NIK HDR Efex Pro. I took 3 tripod shots (-3, 0, +3 EV) with ISO set to 100 with exposures of 1/4, 1/15 and 1 sec.

A rather spectacular wide hall as it stands now-- gonna be fantastic as an academic building--- the lens, etc. has handled the light and glare so very well! Kudos!

I'm liking the HDR effect - similar to your industrial shots Walter. Am looking forward to seeing the makeover of this space.

What a clever way to get the rooms redesigned Grin A very interesting project to follow. Would never have guessed this was HDR.

I'm not a fan of HDR, but this is effective.
I hope you are recording the whole process. All those loose ends will eventually make sense and turn into something wonderful.

Moira, I know what you mean. I usually don't care for the HDR effect -- even though HDR can be done subtly, a lot of it is pretty extreme. In fact, this shot looked a little too natural at first and I tweaked it to appear sort of creepy and industrial on purpose. I was going for that "Shutter Island" look.

Shutter speed island indeed.
wonderfully weird and fantastic.
reminds me of some Douglas Adams stories, I can imagine one of their spaceships looking like this inside!

An interesting project for certain. I hope you will show us the winning project.
Well done interior shot.
( for the Shutter Island effect it would have to be much more grey toned and spooky....could be done with this.)

I think it is a great idea to ask the students about the spaces they use. Hope they considered the opinions of all other people at the University, as well! Keep us posted, Walter.
