This is a closer crop of the dead fly that I stacked up.

2x extension tubes & bellows fully wound out with a 50mm macro lens on the end. Three cheap LED lights on stalks from Ikea and a piece cut off an Omeprazole box for the background. Three half ping pong balls to form a "light tent" around the fly, which had it's arse glued to a pin stuck into a bit of foam taped to the tripod. All popped into Helicon Focus on auto settings.

Ta for looking!

Cheers, Goggz

Well considering the set up I have to say I think it's a marvellous attempt! There's some obvious halo-ing around the hairs, but that could'nt be helped. Zerene seems to cope with that better I find rather than Helicon, but both programs have their + & - sides.....Great work all in all, well done....

Ade

A really good photograph, sorry I can't expand further due to my current posture and discomfort.

Thanks Ade & Nathan. It's the first time I've used Helicon so there is a lot of exploring to do and it was interesting getting the lighting right. Perhaps those haloes are more down to me winding the stack along by guesswork rather precisely. Time will tell.
