Barn owl coming in for a landing.
There are not too many sightings where I have been viewing them lately, not sure why this is, a little concerning to me or is it just they are on the nest?

For what it's worth, the Wood Mice we have visit the garden have been very quiet of late too, we've put it down to the exceptionally cold weather (again). I would suspect the field vole population where this was taken is the same, that and the the fact the owls may well be incubating the eggs at the moment. I'd have thought it a little too early for that though, but who knows? Smile Cracking image BTW and very worthy of the HC, have my User award for good measure! Smile

One of the best Barn Owl shots I have ever seen. Its lovely that it is not too big in the frame and the lighting, composition ,framing and sharpness are all absolutely perfect. Beautiful.

Superb image Ian - very worthy of the HC award. Great timing, light, colour, composition ........... etc. I was out last night where the barn owls usually hunt, and didn't see any ?? Maybe it is a bit cold /windy to hunt ??

Phil.

Ian, i do a lot of mock wildlife stuff especially Barn Owls but i am truly envious of this one - i love the combination of detail and environment, not to mention the 600mm Wink

Thank you phil, I personally like the wildlife in the wild and try to understand the subject I shoot to get the best results, this is sometimes very frustrating but when all elements come together like sun, Bird, composition, then it is all worth the many hours of wasted fuel and time just to get that one image I would be proud to stick on the wall in a frame.
Thank you very much for your UA a lovely surprise.
