The gods must have been smiling upon you, Brian, to give you this opportunity!! You have taken full advantage of the moment too - stunning, detailed capture with terrific wing patterning, textures and colours. Razor sharp and composed to perfection. I have only seen (and managed to capture) one of these this year.

Only seen one myself Sylvia - about 2 weeks ago - it spent the afternoon flitting around the garden - not seen it since.![]()
Brian.
Certainly is in pristine condition Brian, superb detail and it stands out beautifully against that BG,
Geoff.
Quote: Can't recall seeing any this year
Cracking image this one Bri, just loses a little sharpness on the tips, but that's just me being pedantic and perfectionist........![]()
Great image mate.....
Ade
I think one of us needs glasses Ade - no loss of sharpness on wing tips - it's pitched perfectly flat on the flower - its just that Comma's have no distinct markings on their wing tips.![]()
Brian.
A flawless close up of this comma butterfly Brian, you've really nailed this one. The detail and colours are immaculate. I haven't seen very many this year but I did get some pics of one that visited my garden the other week. Nothing wrong with the wing tips, they don't have any defined edges anyway, methinks the Big O has been on the Stowford Press again and the old mince pies are a tad glazed! lol ![]()

Haven't seen one at all this year, glad you did though.
