Same light as before, but with a large, gold reflector under the face. Those eyes have been sharpened a bit, maybe a touch too much, I don't know. But they really are that big!
gorgeous eyes, relly draw you in. love it.
Thank you Sharon!
great shot johnny, the crop, composition, tones and even the reflector bringing out the golds in the highlights of the hair are fantastic.
we must also congratulate the model, she also did a great job
well done both
Agree with Adrian, Johnny superb perspective, love the colour ( s )because of those gorgeous Brown eyes..
but b/w is equally stunning...
Thank you guys, not bad for a first timer who had never been in front of a camera before and was nervous and didn't think she would do a good job! And those eyes are amazing, definitely. She will hopefully be happy with the shots....glad you like it guys, really appreciated!
Great tight crop of a beautiful woman. I like the colour one. Perhaps a touch more contrast required in the black and white. All very good though.
Thanks Daniel....glad you like it! The contrast on the mono is interesting as on my monitor, I felt I pushed it to a point where I was just losing a touch of detail, so not sure I could go any further, but will look into it and see what it looks like with a bit of a play around. Cheers for the feedback!
V1 & 2 for me John. Nice crop and lighting.
I know your one for in camera and not for the retouching, but when your in RAW or LR, just play with the red, yellow and orange luminosity sliders, as they will give the skin a smoother look.
A tutorial on how to do it is on that gift i sent you, you know the one with that crazy guy
As for the eyes, they look fine to me, but you know i like OTT.
Thanks Jon, appreciate it!
The stuff on that "gift" you sent me (which, by the way is superb! VERY useful....) does have some of that stuff at the end and I have actually used it a little on other images, but didn't want to mess about too much with the colours on this one as it was already a touch "orange" from the light as the modifier is a little old and had a slightly odd colour cast to it, which is a shame. So I actually desaturated it a touch, to get rid of some of the strong overtones which made her look a bit like David Dickinson, which isn't a good look on such a pretty girl! lol! Also, the skin has been smoothed a touch in LR already and like you say, I prefer a more "natural" look, so didn't want to take it too far and make her look completely "doll-like" or airbrushed to death like a magazine shot.....but then again, with the eyes, some would say why stop there? lol!
Oh and the "crazy guy"....you know you can follow his blog and follow him on FB (if you are on there). His wife has just left him, he is very sad at the moment, but he is taking some superb shots and his YouTube channel is a great source of info, which I use regularly for inspiration....might be worth a look. Thanks so much for putting me on to him....he really is an "interesting" guy, but very informative....
top work JB, #1 for me... agree with Nikki.
Cheers Al! Yep, those eyes are quite mesmerising aren't they? Glad you like it! Appreciate it!
Going with the mono version this one John, again like the eye contact and expression too.
A good Headshot.
Thanks Richard! Glad you like it
v2 for me,captured the eyes perfectly.
you are very good with lighting, her iris is very open, so there was not too much light on her, it is great, it makes the eyes very beautiful, I like b/w version
Cheers Paola, yeah, the large softbox was very low in power to get the DOF, plus she has very large eyes and the studio was very dark, so it all worked well for that. Glad you like it
Nothing to edit in this shot all ways feel you should leave some human behind (skin work)
Thanks Mike, glad you can see what I was trying to do....
I know exactly what you are trying to get
Thank you Bogdan!
You have taken a really nice portrait here Johnny esp as you mention it was her first tme in a studio, its so easy for the persons nerves or unease to show through on such a close up shot but there is none of that here and Im sure she wil be delighted with your work.
Thank you Garth. From you, that is a high compliment. Much appreciated
