Not easy to control the exposure in bright light but nicely done here, Hugh.

Firstly, this is very well captured, showing lots of sculpting detail, and the boat provides a perfect textured background to the boy's face.l It's the Jubilee Sculpture 2002, a bronze, 12' high.
Portsmouth City Council wanted a sculpture for installation in the new Gun Wharf development, representing the city's future and its last half-century.
The piece shows the prow of the Royal Yacht Britannia, with the future represented by a small boy seated at its base. the base itself evokes the round Tower, which guards the entrance to the Harbour.
"The past 50 years and the future have been commemorated in the jubilee statue unveiled by the Queen at Gunwharf Quays. Vivien Mallock's work was officially put on display at the shopping centre when the Queen visited on Thursday (written June 29th 2002). The bronze piece features the bow of the royal yacht Britannia, which used to be based in Portsmouth, with the figure of a boy sitting next to it. 'The ship represents the past 50 years and the boy is a symbol of the future', said Mrs. Matlock. The statue took her about 4 months to make, and she has several publicly displayed elsewhere.
