We had a great weekend in Birmingham.
I was delighted to discover the multi cultural city centre with the beautiful old buildings mixing perfectly with the very modern ones.
It was a joy to see the wonderful colours of the clothes of people of different races all mixing together in one big melting pot of sunshine.
We went to the athletics and cheered Nick to a bronze medal in the 1500 mtrs.
This is the first picture of my Birmingham week....Happy people cooling off in the fountain
Thank you sincerely for taking the time to look.

It certainly was a hot weekend, did you or Alan 'get into the fountain? It looks like alan only took one of his socks off though.
Nice image of a great city.
Very nicely composed with all the shoes etc. in the foreground. Blow sitting on the fountain, I'd have been in the water it was such a hot weekend. There doesn't seem to be many people around - if this was London you'd have to elbow people out of the way to get a shot like this.
Cracking bit of street photography..well spotted and taken so well.
Love the way you've used the foreground as a lead-in, and love the collection of knee-angles, real and sculptural. One of your best compositions, short-listed.
Moira
Had to do a double take with this one Mavis, and was rather relieved to discover it was only her knees in the sculpture in the fountain.Certainly would have been a case of cooling off if they were what I thought they were !! They would not be happy people in the fountain if I had been there.Very tempting to do a runner with their clothes I reckon.I doubt I would have run as fast as Nick,so well done to him for the bronze medal.I was in Birmingham 40 years ago,so obviously will be plenty changes since then.Even back then it was a very multi cultural city.Interesting to hear it is a joy for you to see the wonderful colours of the clothes people wear in the melting pot of sunshine. But what you fail to mention is the fact you prefer to see the clothes lying in a pile, with the guys semi naked in the background !!
Mick.
Absolute cracker Mavis! What could be nicer for youngsters on a hot day than to take a bath with such a lovely lady? Superbly composed image,
Johanna
Brilliant - we are a very laid back species here in B'ham and why not get in the fountain !!!
Helen
Love the socks and shoes!!!
It looks more like a scene in Venice than Birmingham, definitely one for the tourist board methinks
