This Blue tit Cyanistes caeruleus, is the start of a third year of uploads from The Coppice

Not entirely convinced, whether it works or notSmile, though I am sure I will soon find outWink

The background is a carpet of snow, with shadows cast by the surrounding trees.

Many thanks for your comments on the Anniversary upload, though Muffin's birthday seems to have come to the foreTongue
Off to Derbyshire early Friday for a couple of nights - can't waitGrin

Hell i'm the first comment Adrian.
Not too sure about this. Very vibrant light and sharp detail and the odd blown bit.
I'll sit on the fence on this one. never seen such a white head on a bluey like this, its a late moulter for sure.
Well handled in very difficult light
Richard

Despite Richard's reservations, it looks pretty good to me, if not better, but not being a bird photographer, Adrian, perhaps it's wiser council for me not to add my amateur tuppence worth.

I love the shot Adrian. Looks like you had some difficulties with light but notwithstanding that you have produced a super shot. Sharp as a new tack.Grin

great detail and catchlight in the eye definitely not a loser more like a winner to me b/g a little pale but that doesnt spoil the bird shot - enjoy your break Adrian

Looks ok to me,
The lights a little harsh with the reflection from the snow but most of the highlights are still there,
The b/g looks good with the shadows giving a little texture.

I'll leave that perch out if your coming to Derbyshire, we're off to the sun for a while, it's great not working any more Smile

Some lovely detail and colour as usual Adrian but agree the head and cheeks are not as pristine as you usually get....most likely down to what looks like harsh light which has already been mentioned, a super catchlight in the eye and I think the BG is fab,

HI Tomcat--whatever I said, I meant to say I don't post birds here---

like the brilliance of your posted bird--and his surroundings! We have American Goldfinches that (the males) are this color!

I love it, Adrian, harsh light or not Smile. Wish I had some harsh light here, it's done nothing but rain, rain, rain for the last two days Sad Carol

I like the wintery background Adrian, lovely against the birds colours.
