Great expressions you have caught in all 3 photos, they look as if they are enjoying themselves, good luck with this great venture, good to see. Oh missed the extra 2, they are fab as well.

what i like so much about the way you do this is the fact that the subjects seem to be oblivious to the fact that you are taking a shot. It really is like reading a picture story book. Irrelevant of whatever the subject is you always get my brain ticking over and there is always something to see and wonder

Superb shots !

What was the main topic of conversation ?

Perhaps not .

8 Jul 2008 - 8:26 AM

It looks as if it's going to be a great success Moira.
Wonderful array of bright colours & the ladies looks very industrious.
Maybe you should call them "Crafty" ladies......

Photographically they are good, but I have to admit I am glad I was not there to be captured, I may have hidden under the table.

Good set of images Moira. V1 is my favourite, why does the lady look bored in V3?

Very natural photographs. They obviously take their craft very seriously, and don't seem at all distracted by you and your camera!

Thank you everyone for a wonderful response, and good morning.
In response to a few comments, nobody saw me taking these, I really am very easy to ignore. Smile
I guess the message is that if you want to take candids -
1) Be a middle-aged woman;
2) Look for people concentrating on something.
I should add that Pat, the lady in V1 (and 2 & 3) was the one who got our local U3A off the ground, but then had to stand down from the committee due to severe health problems. She's watching other people steer her ship now...

1) Be a middle-aged woman;....Damn...right of to the shops for my new clothing range....oh and a facial, better get me nails done when i'm there, oh and I could kill for that new pair of shoes.....Wink
then if theres time i'll grab some candids .....lol wonderful slice of real life

I was tempted to say something about you fitting right in there but as I don't want a thump when we finally meet I'll refrain ( for now Wink ). A good collection with your usual unintrusive style, the riot of colour adds to the gathering of what are termed ( not my words ) beige people.
I would like to hear Bill's account of whether you are " easy to ignore " Smile

8 Jul 2008 - 10:50 AM

So they're not crafty ladies then?
V1 has been processed superbly; the lady is so lifelike, it's almost like being there.
The wooden item adorning the wall in V2 makes me think 'Jam and Jerusalem'.
Smile Lucy

Nice collection of shots, but makes one hope one's own old age will be a little bit more dynamic than theirs... I rather see myself running around with a camera still at their age. Maybe Moira should take it upon herself to introduce them to the craft of photography instead of knitting ? I am sure they would love it a hundred times more Smile

#1 & # 3 are my favourites.

A fine colourful collection of a group of ''crafty'' ladies !!!
Any excuse to get of of their real duties like washing and ironing !!!
Left the poor chaps in the house to fend for themselves !!!
I do like No4. She is feeling guilty and having second thoughts !!!
Nice ones Moira.

sorry Moira, I must draw the line at turning into a middle aged woman. I have seen enough of the change in life cycle to know that I want no part of hot flashes etc even if it means I miss out on taking great candids!

Speaking of great candids, one and all are terrific.

Love that intense stare in no 1 Moira, these crafty ladies make great subjects, well captured, Adrian

Another superbly seen and presented slice of real life. These are the types of pictures that will mean something to future generations, unlike the colourful sunsets and moody landscapes we all (myself included) love to shoot. Really well done. Regards Dave

Beautifully caught set of candids. Full of warmth. I love the natural expressions that you always manage to catch so well.

I can do the middle aged woman bit with ease but blending into the background whilst peering through a dslr is a skill that I have yet to aquire.

Again, a wonderful series of shots. V4 shows a lady who obviously has "Crafter's Block". I am sure I must have had this expression many times in the past as I sometimes do with my photography. V5 lady is obviously a "good listener".
