Another shot of the beach huts. If you look at the Map location, then click on satellite view and enlarge it, you can actually see these shadows from space.
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Fits the theme nicely. The horizontal pier placed in the middle balances the vertical line of huts so well. Excellent composition as always.
Dave
Thanks guys. I struggled a bit with straightening this one, because I don't think there's a single true vertical in the foreground. I decided in the end that if the pier was horizontal then the image should be somewhere near the truth!
Moira
Shame they need such large hasps and padlocks on these pretty huts. Is the map a lens baby special angle lens?
Dougie
Strong shadows to go with a bold capture, you did well with the verticals, works well

Quote: the two ladies and a dog add that extra touch
Quote: or, is it two men?????? mmmmmmm could be!
Actually it was a woman and man together, but I hate to spoil your fun!
Quote: With a quick glance those shadows look like stairs and the people are walking up them.
Thanks for noticing that, Sandy. What I was particularly pleased with was that I got all the figures' shadows contained within the hut shadows, so they don't spoil the clean edges. Purely fortuitous, not deliberately timed.
Thanks everyone, we're back from Newcastle, I'll get some time here this afternoon.

Very well composed Moira, great colour and feel to this one. Lovely subject matter.

Looking at the map, the huts seem to stretch quite a distance
A fine colourful capture, Moira, and I think this is about as straight as you'll get them! ![]()

excellent 1/3 composition, classic shadows and lots of rainbow colours for the kid in me / love it.

there is one small niglling thing though... the small light blue line on the left.. but that is just me.

Annette, do you mean the edge of the hut running down the left side of the frame? I composed/skewed carefully to include that!
Ooooops...
Cheers everyone,
Moira
Moira -- I like this shot. The shadows form an interesting pattern but I think the colors are what excite me most about this one.
I tried your suggestion and looked at this area from the satellite view. It is wonderful. I encourage everybody to try that.

This superbly composed seaside scene is all about colours and shadows
