The rudimentary simplicity of the cross standing high before the riches and power signified by the imposing symbol of religion.
The contrast between the simple symbol of remembrance and the unnecessary extravagance of the church.

Took a look after seeing the mono-------The cross stands out well, and contrasts with the rather busy church architecture---- A stark message perhaps?
