This looks like the sort of thing you'd be scraping off your car windscreen in January but it's actually salt crystals! I mixed some kitchen salt with a bit of water and let a few drops dry out on some glass. When it was dry, I lit it using darkfield illumination technique and got loads of really weird images including this one.
