No,1 definitely yes. A good mix of contrasting lights, darks and greys giving it a desolate atmosphere. A brilliant image.

No.2. Not sure it works here. Children playing, in my opinion, should be a happy colourful image.
No. 3. The pained expression on the faces work in mono, perhaps crop in a little closer to enhance the shot.

I am not an expert, just my opinion, hope it helps.

! and 3 for sure Ian, - 2 is not really, - a tad too much noise, and since its a children's play area colour would work best.

Same here - V2 does not work. The other two are excellent. You seem to have refined something in your technique giving a rather smoother and all together more pleasant tonal range. I like the result. Both images very good in different ways. The cityscape is clean and strong whilst the tight close up of the people/faces is much stronger than your broader city street shots where there is often too much going on.

Good stuff.
