I like the idea. May I suggest you have something other han just the dark? It's too much of a contrast for this B&W. Perhaps a sky with clouds or a sunset. I think this approach would enhance this image a lot.

like it as it is and how the fence droops away off the hill; it leaves in the horizion and falls from the hill, something like that.
